Our film certificate (Charlotte)

Our film certificate is going to be a 15 because we believe that this would best suit our audience. Our film is going to contain some mild violence, descriptions of war and mild (Bleeped out) swearing that would warrant it being rated a 15, but none of it is graphic or serious enough

According to the BBFC films rated 15 would include:
  • Discrimination - the work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour, although there may be racist, homophobic or other discriminatory themes and language.
  • Drugs - drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse.
  • Imitable behaviour - dangerous behaviour that should not dwell on detail that could be copied.
  • Language - there may be strong language. very strong language may be permitted, depending on the manner of which it is used, who is using the language, its frequency within the work as a whole and any special contextual justification.
  • Threat - there may be strong threat and horror.
  • Violence - may be strong but should not dwell on the on the infliction of pain or injury.
Our film would be a 15 due to it including the following:
  • Imitable behaviour - People handling dangerous weaponry in the incorrect way.
  • Language: The film would involve curse words but nothing strong enough to warrant an 18 rating.
  • Threat - The film's plot involves threats such as war and crime.
  • Violence - The film would feature war related violence such as shooting and explosions.

By knowing what a 15 should include it will help to shape our film opening because we will know exactly what we will and will not be able to put in the opening.
